Dave Maynard, the host of the longest running entertainment TV show in history, Community Auditions (1950-1987) made his return in a special appearance as a guest judge on the August 12th episode of Community Auditions Star of the Day. The show aired at 7:30 pm on MyTV New England (WZMY TV) in the Boston area, on WPXT TV Portland Maine’s CW (10:30 pm), and on NECN TV throughout the remainder of New England (7:30 pm).
Taped before a live audience atFoxwoods Resort & Casino, Community Auditions
puts a decidedly 21st Century spin on what was the longest running
TV talent show in history. Each week talented New Englanders strut their
stuff. The August 12th program marked the show’s 14th original episode.
Contestants have ranged from ages 6 to 69.
Maynard has been a special consultant to the new Community Auditions: Star of the Day, and on Sunday night led the audience with the song for which he will be forever linked: Star of the Day. Who will it be?
“Working on the new Community Auditions: Star of the Day has brought back a lot of very fond memories,” noted Maynard in a recent interview. “Once the contestants sing Star of the Day, It’s like welcoming an old friend home who has been away.”
Dave Maynard will make other appearances on the show throughout the remainder of the first season. The grand finale winner will be announced on the December 23rd broadcast.
Community Auditions: Star of the Day airs Sunday evenings, with encore broadcasts on MyTV New England (WZMY) Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 11:00 am, Friday at 11:30 pm and Saturday at 6:30 pm and 11:30 pm.
