Saugus – Saugus resident Joey Fielding recently took part in an event at South Shore Plaza sparked by the six 2009 Emmy nominations awarded to the longest running entertainment TV show in history, “Community Auditions: Star of the Day.”

The weekly talent competition that spotlighted up and coming New England singers and dancers originally aired from 1950 to 1987. In 2007, it returned restyled, reinvented, and better than ever on WBZ-TV in Boston and other stations all over New England.

New Englanders not only saw the best of last year’s finalists perform live on stage, but also got the chance to perform themselves on the very same stage.

Fielding was one of four winners at the audition and will be offered the opportunity to compete on Community Auditions during the 2009 Season.

Patriots sports reporter Kristina Akra and Ramiro of JAM’N 94.5, hosted the event with Community Auditions classic host Lori Grande. This trio presides over the competition each week on “Community Auditions,” which is now taped in the Foxwoods Resort Casino.
