One Step Away, hailing from Andover Massachusetts, has now won three Community Auditions “Stars of Day” with three of their original songs. Next weekend, they will be shown on multiple New England TV stations (CT, ME, RI, MA), including WBZ, competing for their fourth consecutive “Star of the Day”, hoping to win a position on the Season Finals to be held at the end of 2009.

Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2009 - One Step Away has now won three Community Auditions “Stars of Day”. They are the first full band to win a Community Auditions “Star of the Day” since 2007. Next weekend, they will be shown on multiple New England TV stations, including WBZ, competing for their fourth consecutive “Star of the Day”.

If they win this competition, they will move on to compete in the 2009 Season Community Auditions Finals later this year. Winning their “Stars” with original songs is an accomplishment. They must convince the panel to not only like them as performers, but also to like their music — which the judges are hearing for the first time at the show. So far, One Step Away has performed three of their copyrighted original songs for the TV audience: “A Day Like Tomorrow”, “Wide Awake” and “Soaring”. Next weekend, they will compete with the first song they wrote, a local favorite called “Over the Edge”.

“Community Auditions: Star of the Day” is the nation’s longest-running TV talent showcase. The series, nominated for six 2009 Emmy Awards, is hosted by Ramiro (of Jam’n 94.5) and Patriots sportscaster Kristina Akra. The show is taped live onstage at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino and telecast all over New England.

One Step Away is made up of high school sophmores: Andover’s Adam Carrington (Lead Vocals) and Mike Nuzzolo (Bass), Peabody’s Alex Kwmuntis (Drums) and Wilmington’s Terence Healy (Lead Guitar). Adam and Michael are students at Andover High School while Alex and Terence attend St. John’s Prep.

Here are a few of the quotes that the band has received so far on the show:
“You have everything that it takes to really make it. Your songs are great. Your vocals are great. The band is tight.” “You are very comfortable out there. You have a nice full big sound.” – Joyce Kulhawik, 2009

“You’ve got the RIGHT STUFF! You sound so well rehearsed. You’ve got a way – there is something about you. You have success written all over your faces.” “You should be on the cover of Tiger Beat Magazine!” – Candy O-Terry, DJ. Magic 106.7, 2009

“I think you guys are amazing. You are really tight. Everyone is locked in and solid. You guys have solid songs. Being in bands all my life, I know what goes into sounding that tight and being that solid.” – Michael Sweet, Vocalist of the bands Boston and Stryper, 2009

“You look great on stage–the girls are melting at you.” – JJ Wright, DJ. Oldies 103.3, 2009

“You guys are all really, really cute. You vibe well together.” Melissa White, Jam’n 94.5, 2009

Wilmington – The band One Step Away, featuring Terence Healy of Wilmington, made its television debut over the weekend of May 29-31 on “Community Auditions: Star of the Day” — the nation’s longest-running TV talent showcase. The band went on to win the “Star of the Day.”

The series, nominated for six 2009 Emmy Awards, is hosted by Ramiro (of Jam’n 94.5) and Patriots sportscaster Kristina Akra. The show is taped onstage at the Foxwoods Resort and Casino and telecast all over New England.

One Step Away is made up of Andover’s Adam Carrington, Westford’s Michael Nuzzolo, Revere’s Alex Kwmuntis and Wilmington’s Terence Healy. Adam and Michael are students at Andover High School while Alex and Terence attend St. John’s Prep.

The episode with One Step Away will be aired again on TV next weekend, and the next two weekends after that.

“They learned a lot from participating in the ‘Community Auditions’ TV show tapings, including what it takes to make a TV show and to be great performers,” said Terry Nuzzolo, the band’s manager.

In 1987 “Community Auditions: Star of the Day” became the longest-running entertainment series in television history, after 37 continuous years of song, dance, magic and comedy. On each episode, three performers compete to become the “Star Of the Day” and thus eligible for prizes ranging from a car to the production of their own showcase CD by Bob Johnston, who has produced million-selling albums for such artists as Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Simon and Garfunkel. Contestants are rated by a three-judge panel made up of radio DJs, record producers and other entertainment experts. Added to their opinions are those of the studio audience and viewers at home. Home viewers can support their hometown heroes by voting online at www.communityauditions.com.
